Clicks on a link that redirects to a different website, or outside of Free Basics will prompt a message informing that the user is stepping out of the free website, and will be charged. Customer maybe be charged if his/her smartphone has some applications running in the background, utilizing data. Usage of Free Basics within the App and through the website will be free of data charges, and should work without any credit or data balance.

The data you use when you visit Free Basics free basic services does not count against your data plan. You will get a warning if you're about to visit sites outside of the free services, indicating that data charges apply.
It's both a website and an app. The Free Basics Android app and www.freebasics.com allow people to browse a set of useful services without data charges in the areas where we've launched.
All active Ooredoo Maldives subscribers with a data capable phone can access Free Basics via their internet browser or Android app.
There are no ads within the Facebook experience on Free Basics. If revenue were the goal, Facebook would have focused resources on markets where online advertising is already robust.
Many people cannot afford the price of data and do not understand what the internet can be used for. Free Basics is free so that people can have access to the internet and see the value that it can provide.
You can test this by checking your balance before and after using Free Basics. If you're on Android, make sure you've turned off your background data and auto-sync.
Free Basics will be available free on Ooredoo Maldives from 15th October 2015 onwards.
Use of Free Basics websites does not cost or use any data, but if you're using other applications like email or chat, those may be using your data.

For Free Basics, if you’re in a country where Free Basics is available in more than one language, you can change the language by clicking “About Free Basics” at the bottom of the services list.

Initially, users will see Facebook and Ooredoo Maldives under the “Brought to you by” section at the top of the app list. After a few uses, the Free Basics app will transition to show the apps used “Most used.”
Facebook doesn’t currently have an agreement with them set up to provide the service as part of Free Basics. Please reach out to your operator to let them know you'd like to see them on Free Basics.
Facebook recently introduced the Free Basics Platform, a way for developers to easily create services for Free Basics. People will soon be able to search through a variety of services and add the services to their homepage that they're most interested in using.
