Ooredoo Maldives has today announced the launch of 4G LTE in K. Maafushi.

This is a momentous day for Ooredoo as the country’s first 4G network spreads across the Maldives.

Said Vikram Sinha, CEO of Ooredoo, "We successfully launched the first ever, fastest ever 4G network in the Maldives in April 2013; and today, I am pleased to announce that after our successful trial in the Male’ area, we have started the rollout of our 4G network to the rest of the Maldives. Maafushi is the first island with 4G coverage in this phase of the network expansion, and throughout the year, we will continue to expand our 4G coverage in the Maldives"

With 4G LTE, Ooredoo customers in Maafushi can now enjoy speeds up to 100 Mbps; speeds that are 6 times faster than 3G+.

4G LTE can be experienced on smartphones and through routers available from:

Mobile Phone Plan: 4G Postpaid Platinum with unlimited calls and texts, 6GB data as well as IDD and roaming discounts

Mobile Data Plan: Jumbo Data plans with up to 200GB allowance and free 4G router that can create an instant Wifi hotspot for up to 32 devices

Devices: Ooredoo Mi-Fi and Ooredoo Wi-Fi devices can also be used to create Wifi hotspots on the superfast 4G network

Ooredoo launched 4G LTE for the first time in the Maldives. It is currently the only operator to offer 4G LTE to handsets.
